Daniel Fritz Put ICFF in *The Trance*

Recent graduate and budding young designer, , showcased his meditation inspired chair at .

The Trance chair was designed for the 2011 Wilsonart Challenge.   sponsors a college or university every year to create seating devices that celebrates their surfacing laminate, this year they sponsored in Rochester New York

In collaboration with Wilsonart, each RIT sponsoree addressed a situation or context, in Daniel’s case it was meditation.  He chose to evoke the feeling of meditation through visual cues in the chair such as hypnotic repetition and slight separation of shapes.  By breaking up the laminate, which naturally has two dimensional qualities, Daniel was able to construct the surface of the chair into an inviting and organic shell shape, inspired by the welcoming proportions of Bertoia’s Diamond Chair and Saarinen’s Womb Chair.

Daniel just celebrated his graduation this past weekend, and is excited about contributing to the design field and create relationships between the user and his/her products.
