The Design Junction brings together the best lighting and furniture brands in the UK to showcase their latest designs. Beau McClellan illuminated The Design Junction, with highly stylish and innovative designs.

Exhibiting at the first ever London design junction event, Beau McClellan’s mix of state-of-the-art technology and bold, interactive lighting designs impressed trade professionals and members of the public alike.  At the event, Beau McClellan successfully collaborated with the Poltrona Frau Group, who supplied classic furniture pieces for the stand from leading Italian brands Cassina, Cappellini and Poltrona Frau, providing a perfect partnership in terms of design-led glamour.

The spectacular Nomad chandelier formed the centrepiece of the design junction show, measuring three meters high and five meters wide with over 200 individual mirror-coated glass components. Each of the LEDs used in this elegant design can be individually controlled to create numerous colour effects and variations using a touch screen, iPad or iPhone. The light from the LED is cleverly diffused through frosted hand-ground optical crystal which magnifies the light, creating warm pastel shades of colour. Customers can specify modular pieces of the colour changing chandelier system, meaning interiors of all sizes can benefit from Nomad’s amazing visual impact.  This innovative ‘plug and play’ approach proved a hit with visitors to the show.  The modular concept is now available using Elipse or Fluid pendant lights.

Moroso presents Bohemian

Bohemian, a series of upholstery pieces designed by Patricia Urquiola for Moroso, will be coming to the US this fall. In this collection, Urquiola has taken a very original approach to classic capitonné work, giving it a completely new, modern look through fluid, irregular forms, with softly pillowed surfaces that seem to melt over the rounded, smooth fiberglass shell frames.  The soft covers, fixed with press-studs, are completely removable to emphasize the idea that they are like pieces of clothing, or shawls, casually thrown over the shoulders of the chairs. The seat can be layered with cushions in alternate technical textiles, such as faux fur and weaves inspired by Mongolian rugs, to create a global aesthetic that is a collage of cultures and traditions.
