Kevin Sethapun’s Arch Stool Proves Less is More with Modern Design
Clear caught up with product designer/ICFF exhibitor, Kevin Sethapun, in NYC. His refreshingly simple designs remind us that less really is more…
The Arch stool design is the re-think of traditional wooden stool making. It is very simple, clean and timeless. The muse was a luxury watch and its detail – the bezel, glass face and leather straps.
The 5 factors
PRESENTATION – the use of positive and negative space in its design make it pleasant to look at
SHADOW – the thin, defined legs cast an equally pleasant shadow giving the piece another dimension
CURVATURE – avoiding harsh corners at the joints make it easy on the eyes and easy on your curves
SEAT – saddle leather and durable stitching on the seat prep it for a long life
PRICE – simplicity keeps the price low, and an added bonus: efficient production = ecological consideration
