DVF In Brazil
DIANE von FURSTENBERG CELEBRATES THE OPENING OF HER FIRST LATIN AMERICAN BOUTIQUELast week, CEO of Iguatemi, and Diane von Furstenberg celebrated the opening of the first Diane von Furstenberg boutique in Latin America at Iguatemi, Sao Paulo with the unveiling of a retrospective on the fashions and the life of Diane von Furstenberg, titled Journey of a Dress. The exhibition, housed at Espaco Iguatemi, a stunning 1,600 square meter salon that sits atop the luxury shopping center Iguatemi and is an official venue for Sao Paulo Fashion Week, was also the site of the cocktail celebration to commemorate the opening of the store and show.
Guests, including Carlos de Souza, Dudi Machado, Alexia Niedzielski, and other notable Brazilians, enjoyed chocolates in the shape of Diane von Furstenberg’s iconic lips print and drank champagne among the Warhols, family photos, career mementos, and the history of Diane von Furstenberg’s creations displayed by decade. Von Furstenberg explained to guests that her favorite part of the show is that it begins with the graphic print of her first wrap dress covering the walls and ended with a family photo, shot by Annie Leibovitz, of President and Michele Obama with their two daughters, Malia and Sasha, that was used as the 2009 President Christmas card – in the image, Michelle is wearing Diane’s iconic wrap dress in the reissue of the original print. “It shows the beginning and a beautiful image of now, 37 years latter” said von Furstenberg. She went on to say “Brazil is like no other place in the world, the people are as beautiful as the landscape and it all screams joie de vivre! I am so happy to finally have a DVF home in Iguatemi, Sao Paulo…the best place to be!!”
Carlos Jereissati, the evening’s co host, said “We are thrilled to welcome Diane and her luxury lifestyle brand at Iguatemi, Sao Paulo. The label’s spirit, heritage, and integrity of design are the ideal match for our clients, and we are honored to have been chosen to partner with DVF in her Latin America debut.”
The São Paulo flagship will be the thirty-third freestanding boutique for DVF, and its first in South America. Based on the idea of a glittering jewel box, the DVF spirit is reflected in the diamond shaped banquettes, the dimensional signature white wall and constellations of mirrors that spiral across the ceiling. Multiple levels are layered throughout the space, while frosted mirrors and printed textures create a subtle backdrop upon which to display the colorful collection. DVF São Paulo will carry the full range of DVF collections, including ready-towear, accessories, shoes, handbags, eyewear, books and small leather goods.
