Honda unveils U3-X
Honda Motor Co. has just unveiled the U3-X electric unicycle, a silver, futuristic device that looks like a cross between a Segway and a hand-held vacuum. The unicycle is intended for commuters and the elderly. The U3-X is self-balancing, and uses the same technology as Honda’s astronaut-like biped robot ASIMO. The U3-X can essentially move in any direction, based on a simple and intuitive method of how the user shifts their weight. Lean forward to move forward, lean back to go back.

Spring 2010 by Paul Smith began with a book… Photographer Daniele Tamagni’s story of the ‘Gentlemen of Bacongo’ has celebrated the stylish phenomenon that emerged during the French Colonial rule of the 1960’s. The young Congolese men that were so taken by the distinguished style of the French formed a society which adapted their influential way of dressing in dapper suits, ties, bowler hats and brogues.

Moroso presents Bohemian
Bohemian, a series of upholstery pieces designed by Patricia Urquiola for Moroso, will be coming to the US this fall. In this collection, Urquiola has taken a very original approach to classic capitonné work, giving it a completely new, modern look through fluid, irregular forms, with softly pillowed surfaces that seem to melt over the rounded, smooth fiberglass shell frames. The soft covers, fixed with press-studs, are completely removable to emphasize the idea that they are like pieces of clothing, or shawls, casually thrown over the shoulders of the chairs. The seat can be layered with cushions in alternate technical textiles, such as faux fur and weaves inspired by Mongolian rugs, to create a global aesthetic that is a collage of cultures and traditions.
