Shift Architects BUILD “DIY REYKJAVIK” PAVILION

DIY Reykjavik is a Do-It-Yourself, non-profit design experiment initiated and designed by Arnaldur Schram and Simon Stigsby of New York-based design firm Shift, in collaboration with Angelica Biddle and Dr. Sigurður Gunnarsson.  The pavilion is a temporary installation situated in front of the Nordic House in Reykjavik and coincides with the 2009 Reykjavik Design Days and 2009 Reykjavik Art Festival. The structure is declared ownerless and represents a stepping stone for the local community to question Iceland’s future.

The Yas Hotel Abu Dhabi

Asymptote Architecture, the award-winning, New York-based practice, nears completion of The Yas Hotel project in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The Yas Hotel is a 500-room, 85,000-square-meter complex now under construction by Aldar Properties PJSC. Asymptote was awarded the commission to design the buildings and environs from a closed competition two years ago targeting an opening date of October 30, 2009 to coincide with the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Infinitas …the second yacht design by Schopfer Yachts

Infinitas is the second design launch of Schöpfer Yachts. E. Kevin Schopfer and Sparkman Stephens of Naval Architects designed the new 300-foot yacht. The design’s main inspiration comes from the symbol for infinity, which is abstractly expressed throughout the yacht’s elevation.
